This website can offer only a taste of what is available but we will do all we can to point you in the right direction.
Old Castle is within a few miles of some of the finest beaches in South Devon at Bantham, Bigbury-on-Sea, Thurlestone and Wonwell. Ayrmer Cove, owned by The National Trust, can be reached by a footpath from the village and car park. Bantham and Bigbury are renowned for surfing (professional instruction can be arranged) and windsurfing.
Walkers can enjoy walks from the village or some of the finest stretches of undulating, high cliff-top walks on the South Coast Path. The southern slopes of Dartmoor can be reached in less than half an hour and central Dartmoor with its Tors, moorland and river walks in less than an hour.
There are good golf courses with spectacular sea views at Bigbury and Thurlestone and sailing at Salcombe 11 miles away. South Devon Tennis Centre in nearby Ivybridge is open to non-members. A number of equestrian centres offer riding and pony trekking.
Sightseeing boat trips of the Kingsbridge estuary run from Kingsbridge. Sea, fly and coarse fishing can all be booked locally but we can also arrange professional, guided sea bass fishing.
Ringmore is between the Avon and Erme estuaries which offer varied bird-watching all year round and only slightly further afield is the excellent Slapton Ley Nature reserve.
Within five to forty-five minutes drive there are traditional pubs, sophisticated restaurants and seafood to suit all tastes and budgets. Plymouth with the historic Plymouth Hoe, Citadel and Barbican is fifteen miles to the west while to the north-east are the historic towns of Totnes and Dartmouth.
Some of our guests venture as far as The Eden Project at St. Austell approximately an hour and a half away.
